The Design Owner Toolkit enables secure design licensing by allowing design owners to encrypt their contact lens designs, protecting sensitive design information from unauthorized access or modification. Using a unique Owner Code, the Design Owner defines license duration, sets expiration dates, controls design visibility for the Licensee, and enforces additional license protection measures. This ensures that designs are used only within agreed parameters, giving design owners greater control over distribution and usage while maintaining the integrity, confidentiality, and security of their intellectual property.

The Exported Log Browser provides a centralized log database with flexible reporting time frames, including monthly, quarterly, or yearly views. Owners can customize licensee lists, adjust class pricing parameters, apply multi-select class filters for targeted analysis, and export data in CSV format for external reporting and sharing.
LICENSING WORKFLOW
When seeking to obtain a licensed design, the Manufacturing Lab must reach an agreement with the Design Owner. Advance Medical does not participate directly in these negotiations. Our role is to provide the technical infrastructure that operates and maintains the licensing platform. This includes offering the necessary tools, facilitating the process, and ensuring our operations remain independent and transparent, acting in the best interest of all parties involved.

How do I license my designs to other Labs?
Licensing your designs through FocalPoints is a structured and secure process. First, your designs must already be developed and available within your own FocalPoints system. Once this is in place, you can activate the optional Design Owner Toolkit module, which is specifically designed to manage design licensing. After enabling the toolkit, you’ll need to enter into an agreement with the Manufacturing Lab that will receive your designs. This Lab must also be a FocalPoints user and will operate as a Licensee under your terms.
How do I protect and control my designs?
The Design Owner Toolkit allows you to control how your designs are shared, including setting license durations, limiting access to specific design elements, and protecting your intellectual property through the use of a unique Owner Code. After enabling the toolkit, you’ll need to enter into an agreement with the Manufacturing Lab that will receive your designs. This Lab must also be a FocalPoints user and will operate as a Licensee under your terms. The integration ensures that the Licensee receives only the authorized components of your designs, with no access to underlying proprietary details. In addition, the system includes robust reporting tools to help you monitor usage, manage licenses, and maintain full oversight of all active agreements.
What is the role of Advance in the licensing?
Advance Medical provides and maintains the licensing platform within FocalPoints, ensuring that it is secure, reliable, and easy to use for both Design Owners and Manufacturing Labs. We supply the necessary tools to enable the controlled distribution and management of licensed designs.From a contractual standpoint, Advance Medical establishes separate agreements with both the Design Owner and the Manufacturing Lab. These agreements define the roles, responsibilities, and usage terms for each party within the platform. However, we are not involved in the commercial or legal relationship between the Design Owner and the Manufacturing Lab (Licensor and Licensee), which define autonomously all specific terms. This ensures full confidentiality and preserves our neutral role in the relationship.
