Reflections on the GSLS 2025, Advancing Vision Care

January 2025 - Go to enVisus page

This January, we had the pleasure of participating once again in the Global Specialty Lens Symposium (GSLS) 2025 in Las Vegas. As always, it was an incredible opportunity to meet with professionals, connect with our clients, and get a feel of the latest developments in the industry. The 2025 Global Specialty Lens Symposium surpassed all expectations, bringing together nearly 1,000 attendees from 32 countries for a truly international experience.

Advancing tools for treating complex visual conditions has always been a challenge, as it requires cutting-edge innovation with practical usability. While patients with higher-order aberrations often face limited options, the tools available to address these needs are frequently complex, costly, and inaccessible to many. This gap highlighted the urgent need for a solution that is both advanced and simple to implement—one that could seamlessly integrate into existing processes while maintaining exceptional precision. That’s exactly where our enVisus® Special Feature comes in, revolutionizing the way labs and practitioners approach HOA corrections.

Zenlens Chroma HOA Session at GSLS

Years of hard work have gone into creating this innovation, which breaks barriers by enabling the implementation of HOA corrections on virtually any lens design without disrupting existing manufacturing processes, something that was previously thought impossible. This means expanded availability and improved efficiency for labs and patients alike, moving beyond the traditional ECP-focused solutions in the industry.

FocalPoints enVisus HOA Correction

Being featured as technical partners of Zenlens Chroma HOA's launch was an exciting milestone for us. This first commercial product powered by FocalPoints® feels like the culmination of years of dedication for pushing the boundaries of specialty contact lenses. Working closely together with the Bausch+Lomb team we redefined what’s possible in correcting higher-order aberrations while ensuring unparalleled fitting of their flagship scleral lens. Having FocalPoints featured at the Bausch+Lomb booth made the experience even more special, as it allowed us to engage directly with eyecare professionals and see their enthusiasm firsthand.

Another highlight of GSLS was the strengthened partnerships with Ovitz and Tracey Technologies. Since the beginning of our HOA project we wanted to make enVisus® fully compatible with leading aberrometers, ensuring the onboarding of the market's key players.

We’re particularly grateful to both companies for aligning with our forward-thinking approach, which prioritizes building a robust open platform from day one. We are working to integrate with even more aberrometers soon, further expanding the reach and impact of our solutions.

GSLS 2025 provided invaluable opportunities for networking and exchange. Although we didn’t host our own booth, we were deeply engaged in meaningful conversations with clients and industry leaders. The symposium reaffirmed our commitment to advancing specialty lens innovation, finding a bridge between cutting-edge technology and patient-focused care.

Networking and Collaboration

One of the most special moments of GSLS 2025 was celebrating the 30th anniversary of Menicon’s Rose-K lens in the United States. Paul Rose delivered a heartfelt speech reflecting on the impact of this groundbreaking design and took the time to recognize FocalPoints and Renato Liffredo’s contributions. He highlighted how FocalPoints played a key role in establishing Rose-K as a reference point for the entire industry, a moment that filled us with pride and gratitude.

Another exciting development at GSLS 2025 was the introduction of DELTA Scleral, the next generation of scleral contact lenses by ABB. This innovative lens is designed to simplify and enhance the fitting process with its intuitive approach and feature-rich base design. We are proud to have been supporting our friend Charley Creighton to bring this product to life.

Meeting with our friends at Lambda-X was another highlight of GSLS 2025. We discussed the ongoing advancements in the PowerMap Comparison Engine (PCE), a tool that continues to enhance the precision and analysis capabilities for eye care professionals. This collaboration reinforces our shared commitment to developing technologies that bring measurable improvements to patient outcomes and practice efficiency.

This January also marked our debut at the Contact Lens Manufacturers Association (CLMA) Annual Business Meeting. This was a significant step in broadening our involvement in the vision care community and working toward a shared future of progress and innovation. It was great to be in the same room with many of our clients, and contribute to the advancement of the specialty contact lens industry.

As we reflect on this incredible experience, we’re energized by the possibilities that lie ahead. Our groundbreaking enVisus HOA Correction tool is just the beginning of a new era in vision care, and we’re excited to continue collaborating with the global community to deliver solutions that make a difference.
