FocalPoints Designer is at the core of the system. Designer it's the component that allows the Lens Designer to create the rules that define a lens design, set materials and machining characteristics, import and export saved designs. It is a full 3D Computer Aided Design program dedicated to contact lenses, not just a collection of predefined design templates. The Contact Lens designer can develop his own innovative designs, by conceiving new, proprietary designs, to be manufactured with any of the compatible lathes with FocalPoints. What makes FocalPoints Designer unique is that it allows to develop a Contact Lens starting always from Standards constructs, rather than from an empty slate.

A VAST ARRAY OF SPECIALTY TOOLS

FocalPoints has a number of powerful tools for visualising lens optics and geometry that allow you to find problems or fine tune a design before it goes to the Lathe. In addition to traditional spheres and conic sections, FocalPoints offers Arcs, Bezier curves, Splines, and automatic Blending curves. FocalPoints allows the Lens Designer to dynamically control the lens geometry through the use of formulas or tables. Tables or formulas may use a number of lens parameters, such as diameter, lens power or base-curve radius. Formulas, tables, edge shapes or other lens elements can be saved to disk and used in other lens designs.

UNIQUE SIMULATION TESTING

One of the goals of FocalPoints is to speed up the development of a CL design. In the past, the lens designer was required to cut a lot of samples to verify the resulting lens geometry. Working by trial and error resulted in high development costs (time and materials), without mentioning the risk of damaging diamonds in the production of new complex designs. The different Simulation Testing tools offered by FocalPoints are aimed at reducing development times by using a set of virtual analysis tools, which allow the FP Designer Expert to identify and remove the most evident issues in the design project before going on the Lathe.

CUSTOM FITTING

If a lens has been designed to be adaptive it can be automatically fit to topographic data. FocalPoints can read and interpret the data of many popular corneal topographers.

The fit is reviewed with an accurate, interactive simulated fluorescein pattern and a diagram of the tear layer. After fitting a lens to topographic data, the lens can be fine-tuned for a perfect fit by clicking the control points on the tear layer diagram.

Graphics Module

GRAPHICS MODULE

The Graphics Module is an advanced drawing and imaging tool, which helps create technical documentation. Being integrated in Designer, all lens design parameters, geometry and sections can be automatically generated from the design definition.


Secure Design Licensing

SECURE DESIGN LICENSING

Lenses designed in FocalPoints can be licensed to another Lab equipped with FocalPoints. Licensing is fail-safe and designs can be encrypted by the Owner so that:
